Is technology affecting the educational system financially?

It is interesting to see the impact of technology and how it has changed many career fields. This has also affected the educational system. I want to take tiktok app for example. Now you can see people on tiktok lip sync to sound made by movie actors  so perfectly to where they gained enough follower and brands start to get notice of them. These brands give them influencers position where they receive monetary compensation, discounted pricing and free clothing deals. some of these influencers also travels a-lot. The travel expenses are paid by the big brand companies. I  enjoyed reading comment on these influencers pages that they receive from their followers.  Most influencers admit that they  wanted to go to school for acting careers. However, that is no longer needed because they can still make that amount of money. And no need to through school struggles and be in debt. Most of these influencers does not have real talent but because people gravitate to their contents somehow comp

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is the hottest topic surrounding technological advancement debate. Will AI take over the world? Will AI change the view and how things are done? For me personally, i think it is weird to have AI involve with the human race. For example the robot Sophia is actually weird to me and creepy. I think we should enable AI in certain capacity like in some areas but not make it into a human form. I personally like Alexa, google and other search engines. It knows everything but does not creep me out. I don't mind a lifeless dolls. But dolls that act like humans are creepy to me.  Will AI accomplished making intelligence like the human brain. I doubt it. I think no matter how AI get advance it will never catch up to the human race. I don't think AI will ever accomplish mastering  rational thinking.  The major difference between human and machine based items are rationality. Human beings can rationalize and make prompt decision on the spot.  Finally, we have seen AI

Dot.com to Dot.bomb

The dot.com is such an interesting era, where the internet is taking off and the trust of the customer are gained. Not until when the market started to crash in the 2000 where a-lot of companies began to go under.  Some companies fought to stay in the market through facing hardship to maintain capital and keeping their employees. Usually, when business slows down and fixed and continued to incur variable and fixed usually fast speed for that business to go under. Especially during the 2000, technology was not advanced as in today's world. Therefore, human power was needed, meaning, companies can not afford to let some valuable employees despite it may them more to keep them. This kept fixed cost rising and affecting companies, despite there is not enough revenue coming in to offset the cost.  If the dot.com would have happened in todays era, I believe most companies would have not gone under because in today's society, there are more cross training in departments and technolog

A visit from Brian Forth

Unfortunately, I missed Brian Forth's visit but i read about his visit through my classmate blog "A struggling Computer science major." From what Evan mentioned in his blog, it sounded like Brian's visit was rewarding and fun. Brian quit his job to pursue his passion in entrepreneurship by helping other business. His sitecrafting company my classmate mentioned sounded very interesting, so I checked it out. I like the layout of the website. The mission statement "To craft digital experiences that inspire, empower and delight "is short and sweet. It points out the main goal of the business with only few words. The vision statement "Thriving employees, organizations, and communities. Creating impact through technology" is also powerful and holds a-lot of meaning. It includes the most important components that is favorable for business to their outside viewers especially customers. I checked their services section too. I like the breakdown of the ser

Startup.com

Startup.com documentary film is interesting in showing case the govworks project in the 2001 documentary film. I think this documentary is interesting because it was the starting up of digital age such as the internet. Where a-lot of people are pretty in interested in getting their business using social media to make a living.  Two friends Kaleil Isaza Tuzman and Tom Herman who tried to join the trend by investing their hard-earned money and time in goveworks project. As friends they don' know what they were signing up for. They thought they will make money in the first round. Instead, they ended up working long hours, missing a lot of time with their family. Their friendship got tested between them when the company find Tom difficult to work with. Tom as a shareholder was told to take a leave or vacation.  In addition to the company going under, Tom was basically forced out of the company. Tom being one of the shareholders, had to get a lawyer to advise him through the situation

Three things I won't buy Online

Online shopping has become a very important factor and convenient tool in today's society. A lot of consumers have adopted online shopping and this in return provided many people jobs in delivery for example instacart shopping that need shoppers and delivery people.  I personally enjoy online shopping and can shop for almost everything and anything. However, past experience, have taught not to shop for three thing online and that is pants, cars and a house without in person inspection.  Pants: I have ordered almost from all shopping sites and have come to realize that online shopping for pants is not for me. The pants always come out not fitting right either through big waist band, short lengths or not fitting on the highs. Also, most of every of the sites requires you to pay delivery fees to return the items back.  The shipping fees discouraged me not to shop online for pants. Cars: I also think that cars are one of those important item that a consumer should not buy online. Th

A Visit From Erik Handberg

Although i sadly missed his visit, it is interesting to read my fellow classmates take on his presentation. I read several blogs on my classmates takes about his visit and their experiences. It is interesting to see that many of classmates like that he incorporated technology into his entrepreneurship presentation. One-day i will like to be an entrepreneur and own multiple business here and back in my home country Sierra Leone. Technology has become an important factor to consider when opening a business. As an accounting focus student , my goal is to understand how the number works and learn essential trade to to start my own business.  I like how my classmates mentioned that Erik emphasized on the idea of the internet promoting productivity when it comes to business. Accounting has been one of these businesses that have incorporated technology through accounting software. There are many softwares such as quickbooks, sage, excel etc  that  help increase  productivity and efficiency a
